Book of Light

"Michael, look at this," said Lissa.

Michael turned around. His little sister walked into the room carrying a big book. Michael took it from her.

"What is it?"

He began turning pages. One page at the beginning fell open. Michael quickly shut the book.

"Mariah! Come here!"

A voice drifted in the room from upstairs.

"Where are you?"

"In the living room," Lissa told her.

Footsteps pounded down the stairs.

"I don't want to talk about it anymore, Michael. I refuse to go," Mariah was almost shouting.

"Mariah, wait it's not...." Lissa tried to interrupt.

"It's just not fair, Michael, and you know it! Aunt Carrie doesn't really want us."

"No, Mariah, that's not what....." Michael also tried to explain.

"Michael, the only reason she's taking us in is because you asked her to."

"Mariah!" both Liss and Michael yelled to get her attention.

She looked at them, startled.

"What? You didn't need to scream."

Michael took Mariah's hand and led her to the couch. Lissa followed. Mariah shrugged and sat down. Michael maneuvered the book for everyone to see. As he opened the cover, Mariah and Lissa gasped.

On the first page were four envelopes labeled Michael, Mariah, Lissa, and Our Children.

The three silently took out their letters and read quietly together. They visibly relaxed as they finished their letters. One by one they put them back in the envelopes. Then Michael pulled out the letter for all of them and read it out loud.

"Our Dear Children,

We love you. This book is a tangible legacy of our love for you. In it we've recorded all God has done and is doing for this family. Our prayer for you is that you may use this book to overcome the many temptations you will face. We also pray that as the Lord grows you in His grace you will be able to add the wisdom you've learned to this book.

'But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, tha the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubed on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed. II Corinthians 4:7-9'

This is the beginning of a pilot for a television show that popped into my head. I'd been praying for an idea for a TV show that would honor and glorify God and be practically applicable to the audience. And this seemed to fit the bill.

The book that they read from is called a Book of Light. Their parents have been adding to it all their lives. Making pages on Trust, The Armour of God, The Fruits of the Spirit, Forgiveness, Mercy.

I enjoyed planning everything for the series....especially the book.

Then I thought, "Wait! Why don't I made one of my own?!"

So I did. Only two pages so far, but many planned.

The worse part is, I'm now into scrapbooking! AHHH! I've always said that I wouldn't get into scrapbooking because of all the extras that come with it. But I really love working on this project.
